Toyota Etios sedan

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (KTM) launched one of its most innovative creation at an event in Bangalore, Toyota Etios sedan and the hatchback, Toyota Etios Liva was launched lately. The delivery of Toyota Etios saloon version started from January 2011. This compact car, Toyota Etios, targets masses in India. As per the company, to develop this people's car, over 2,000 engineers were engaged to give it small size without compromising on the eye-catching interior, power, performance and higher fuel economy. At the Auto Expo 2010, the company displayed hatchback and sedan models of Toyota Etios and now finally the saloon version is launched whereas the hatchback version of Etios named Toyota Etios Liva is unveiled. The launch of this hatchback version is planned in the month of April next year. The company had worked hard to make Toyota Etios affordable and wished to use only domestic components for the same.
Toyota has promised to provide world class technology and quality with the Toyota Etios. The design concept for the car is Bold Simplicity which is referred to affordable luxury and functionality in one machine. The car will have to compete with the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Manza and Hyundai Accent. The company will produce around 70K units of the car per year. With its small car Toyota Etios, the company intends to grab a 10 per cent market share in Indian compact cars segment by the end of the current year.


Toyota Etios designers tried hard to give stunning looks to the interiors of Toyota Etios and as a result a creative kind of output can be seen. However, the company failed to provide it eye-catching and eye-soothing appearance. Dashboard is a conventional type that houses instrument panel in the centre which can be easily read out by rear passenger. AC vents are at both end of the dashboard. There is enough storage space at dashboard facing front passenger. A touch-screen audio-system is installed in the middle of the console along with operating switches. Additional steering mounted audio controls are there provided for the convenience of driver.
The multifunction steering wheel comes in three spoke design. The base model doesn't possess power steering. Seatbelts are there for all passengers for safety reasons. The interiors of Toyota Etios are in dual tone which is a classic piece of designing. The seats are wide and comfy with sufficient backrest. Ample legroom and headroom is provided for easy and comfortable seating. Storage space at door pockets and glove box are provided in the car. Boot compartment is there in all the variants. Flooring is flat and sleek which also helps to sit comfortably. Rear roof lining is made thinner for ample headroom.


Though the front face of the Toyota Etios is sharp and compact. The upper grille, lower grille and headlamps collectively make a shape of a face of human being that seems smiling with dimples (headlamps) at both end of lips (upper grille). The upper grille in chrome finish while the lower grille comes in black. Pearl white fog lamps are placed at both end of the lower grille. Rain wipers are provided at front and rear face. Standard rear side view mirrors are in body color along with door handles, rear cowl and bumper.
The rear box of Toyota Etios is unique. However, taillight in Etios sedan is in triangular shape. The taillight cluster includes brake, turn and reverse indicators. The boot space is wider and larger in sedan variant of Toyota Etios. Exhaust pipes in both the variants are not showed outside. 170 mm ground clearance is simply commendable. The front grille is Matte Black in case of Toyota Etios J and Chrome Ornamenting in all other variants. This stunning car comes with Body Colored Bumpers, Front Fog Lamps (in V and VX version), Body Colored Door Handles (G Version), Body Colored ORVM, B Pillar Black-Out, Intermittent Wiper (absent in G version), Side Skirt (only in VX version), Tubeless Tyres, 12 Spoke Alloy Wheels (V and VX models) and Chrome Garnish on Boot.
