Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai Motors is all ready to reintroduce its stylish and posh sedan in India, the 2012 Hyundai Elantra. The new Hyundai Elantra is expected to come with “Active Eco System”, which alters transmission and engine parameters to make the car more fuel efficient. Hyundai has worked hard on this sedan and made it look curvier and stylish than the previous model. The 2012 Hyundai Elantra surely looks good and will give a tough competition to the other sedans, such as Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Laura and so on. The new 2012 Hyundai Elantra targets the young achievers of the country within the age of 30 to 40 years.

Hyundai Elantra was present in India between 2004 and 2007 also. However, the car was discontinued in 2007 because of its meager sales in India. It is evident that the name of Hyundai Motors India Limited is associated more with small cars like Santro, i10, i20, and recently launched Eon. It becomes very difficult for Hyundai to market sedan cars and SUVs because of its mass car seller image. However, now things are changing with the fluidic design philosophy binding Hyundai cars. Hyundai Elantra is also known as Hyundai Avante in many countries. The Elantra was formerly marketed as the Lantra in Australia and some European markets. In Australia, this was due to the similarly named Mitsubishi Magna Elante model.

Hyundai Elantra has a powerful 1.8 Litre of Dual VTVT petrol engine under the hood, which delivers world class power of 150 PS along with 182 Nm of peak torque, which makes the car extremely fuel efficient. The engine is cleverly coupled with both six speed manual and automatic gearbox and boosts up the throttle response and pushes up the fuel economy. Hyundai Motors have designed this sedan intelligently and kept in mind that it has to be perfect both inside out. The interiors of the car are stylish as well as comfortable, whereas the exteriors are well-built and sturdy. Besides the petrol variant, there is also a possibility that Hyundai will bring in the diesel version of the sedan, which would possess 1.6 litre of CRDI VGT of diesel engine. This diesel engine will have capacity to churn out 128 PS of maximum power and 265 Nm of peak torque. The engine of 2012 Hyundai Elantra diesel will also be mated with both automatic and manual transmission.

Hyundai Elantra is expected to be launched in 3 variants, one is the base variant, which comes with 15 inches of steel wheels, full power accessories, keyless entry, height adjustable driver seat, heated mirrors, trip computer, 6 speaker terrific sound system accompanied with a CD player, satellite radio 60/40 split folding rear seat and iPod USB audio interface with auxiliary audio jack.

The next trim that would be available, will be Hyundai Elantra mid variant, which is expected to feature 16inches of steel wheels, powerful air conditioning system, cruise control, solar glass, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, automatic gearbox and Hyundai’s new Active Eco System. Furthermore, chic interiors, illuminated vanity mirrors, fog lamps, Bluetooth, audio controls mounted on steering wheel and sliding front center armrest are absolute delight. The final trim will be the Hyundai Elantra top variant, which will sport impressive 17 inches of alloy wheels, leather upholstery, sunroof, heated rear and front seats and shifter. Adding the limited technology package will further add keyless entry, automatic headlights, touch screen infotainment interface, rearview camera and navigation system with real-time weather and traffic information.

Performance wise, Hyundai Elantra will be impressive. The 2012 Hyundai Elantra will be front wheel drive and will feature 1.8 lire of 4 cylinder motor that would churn out 150 PS of power along with 182 Nm of torque. And with the automatic gearbox, the performance of the sedan will further be improved substantially as the sedan will be able to touch the mark of 100 km per hour in merely 13.5 seconds and would have a top speed of 195 km per hour. Hyundai has also taken care of the safety of its passengers in Hyundai Elantra. The car includes stability and traction control, active front head restraints, antilock disc brakes and front seat and side curtain airbags.

The interiors of Hyundai Elantra will be comfortable and luxurious at the same time. This sedan will feature climatic controls, which would proffer a tint of extra flair. The quality of the materials used inside are exquisite and the firm has kept in mind that consumers get a lush and plush feel when inside the car. The seats are upholstered with leather, which provide a rich look accompanied with a rear view camera and a terrific navigation system.

Furthermore, Hyundai Elantra provides ample of space as compared to a compact car. Also there is a lot headroom and legroom for the passengers as well as for the driver. However, steering wheel is a little smaller in diameter, but it improves the sense of space in the front. Further, sufficient amount of storage space is also provided to make it easy for the consumers during the journey.

In all, Hyundai Elantra looks like a fabulous sedan, which has got the looks along with brawny engine under the skin. The price of Hyundai Elantra has still not been revealed yet, but Hyundai Motors will clear the rumors once it officially arrives with Hyundai Elantra in India.
