Toyota Etios sedan

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (KTM) launched one of its most innovative creation at an event in Bangalore, Toyota Etios sedan and the hatchback, Toyota Etios Liva was launched lately. The delivery of Toyota Etios saloon version started from January 2011. This compact car, Toyota Etios, targets masses in India. As per the company, to develop this people's car, over 2,000 engineers were engaged to give it small size without compromising on the eye-catching interior, power, performance and higher fuel economy. At the Auto Expo 2010, the company displayed hatchback and sedan models of Toyota Etios and now finally the saloon version is launched whereas the hatchback version of Etios named Toyota Etios Liva is unveiled. The launch of this hatchback version is planned in the month of April next year. The company had worked hard to make Toyota Etios affordable and wished to use only domestic components for the same.
Toyota has promised to provide world class technology and quality with the Toyota Etios. The design concept for the car is Bold Simplicity which is referred to affordable luxury and functionality in one machine. The car will have to compete with the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Tata Manza and Hyundai Accent. The company will produce around 70K units of the car per year. With its small car Toyota Etios, the company intends to grab a 10 per cent market share in Indian compact cars segment by the end of the current year.


Toyota Etios designers tried hard to give stunning looks to the interiors of Toyota Etios and as a result a creative kind of output can be seen. However, the company failed to provide it eye-catching and eye-soothing appearance. Dashboard is a conventional type that houses instrument panel in the centre which can be easily read out by rear passenger. AC vents are at both end of the dashboard. There is enough storage space at dashboard facing front passenger. A touch-screen audio-system is installed in the middle of the console along with operating switches. Additional steering mounted audio controls are there provided for the convenience of driver.
The multifunction steering wheel comes in three spoke design. The base model doesn't possess power steering. Seatbelts are there for all passengers for safety reasons. The interiors of Toyota Etios are in dual tone which is a classic piece of designing. The seats are wide and comfy with sufficient backrest. Ample legroom and headroom is provided for easy and comfortable seating. Storage space at door pockets and glove box are provided in the car. Boot compartment is there in all the variants. Flooring is flat and sleek which also helps to sit comfortably. Rear roof lining is made thinner for ample headroom.

Though the front face of the Toyota Etios is sharp and compact. The upper grille, lower grille and headlamps collectively make a shape of a face of human being that seems smiling with dimples (headlamps) at both end of lips (upper grille). The upper grille in chrome finish while the lower grille comes in black. Pearl white fog lamps are placed at both end of the lower grille. Rain wipers are provided at front and rear face. Standard rear side view mirrors are in body color along with door handles, rear cowl and bumper.
The rear box of Toyota Etios is unique. However, taillight in Etios sedan is in triangular shape. The taillight cluster includes brake, turn and reverse indicators. The boot space is wider and larger in sedan variant of Toyota Etios. Exhaust pipes in both the variants are not showed outside. 170 mm ground clearance is simply commendable. The front grille is Matte Black in case of Toyota Etios J and Chrome Ornamenting in all other variants. Ford India has invested US $ 500 million in India to double its production capacity to 2,00,000 units per annum that shows Ford's desperation to make it big just like Maruti, Hyundai and Tata Motors. In terms of safety, the new Fiat 500 is the first car in this category to offer up to 7 airbags (front, side, curtain- and knee-bags are all standard throughout the range, except for the Naked version). It also proposes a number of active safety elements such as the ABS with EBD function (standard in all 


Pop, Sports and Lounge versions), ESP (Electronic Stability Program, standard or optional, depending on versions and markets), which includes other function such as the ASR (Anti Slip Regulation), HBA (Hydraulic Brake Assistance) and a Hill Holder device. The suspension adopts an independent MacPherson system at the front, and semi-independent interconnected wheels with a torsion axle at the rear (see also specifications page). The two layouts have evolved from a Magneti Marelli design and have been used on other Fiat models in the past; they have now been revised and modified for the new car, to guarantee outstanding handling and the highest possible level of comfort. The brake system on the new car has front discs with a diameter of 240 mm; they are solid for versions with the 1.2 8v engine and ventilated for the 1.3 Multijet, with a diameter of 257 mm for versions with the 100 bhp 1.4 16v. The rear 


brakes mount drums (180 mm) on the 1.2 8v and 1.3 Multijet, and discs (240 mm) on the 1.4 16v. The Lounge version includes the Chrome kit which features chrome-plated inserts in the seals of the side windows, on the exhaust terminal, on the trim of the inside door handle, the gear lever and the front and rear bumpers. On the outside, the new 500 Lounge features 185/55 R15" alloys, electric body-coloured wing mirrors and a fixed glass roof with sunshade. Inside, it features special fabrics, a leather-upholstered steering wheel with the controls of the Blue&Me system, manual climate control, a radio, CD and MP3 player, a height adjustable front seat, a 50/50 split rear seat with head-restraints, a key with customised remote control and an active handle on the tailgate. The Sport specification includes sporty seats with special foam, a rear spoiler, interior upholstery in exclusive colours and fabrics, a chrome-plated exhaust terminal and chrome inserts in the door sills. It also offers 185/55 R15" sporty alloys, manual climate control, a sporty steering wheel in two colours with the controls for the Blue&Me system, a radio with CD and MP3 player, and electric wing mirrors painted the same colour as the bodywork. The Sport and Lounge equipped with the 100 bhp 1.4 16v engine also offer the ESP system as standard equipment and an instrument panel with sporty graphics.

Honda Brio

Honda has made a fresh entry in the Indian hatchback market and that too with the best - a small car christened Honda Brio.Honda Brio was launched in India in September 2011; it is welcomed well and is tagged to be a kind of car that has the capacity to revolutionize Honda small car sales. In India, Honda Brio is the second hatchback offering after Honda Jazz in the already competitive small car market. 
It is the lowest priced and most affordable Honda car in India and has simply outstanding crease on its body and a stunning forward inclined stance to woo car buyers. This styling is something that is going to drive car buyers crazy and it will also help increase its demand exponentially in the country. Honda has launched Honda Brio in striking color options. The Japanese car maker is well-known in the industry for styling its cars in a unique way, especially interiors of the cars. Honda Jazz

Japanese auto manufacturer, Honda Motor Company had introduced its luxurious hatchback model Honda Jazz in India on June 10, 2009. Honda Jazz was the most eagerly awaited small car since Honda announced about its launch, being the first small car in Honda's product portfolio in India. new Honda Jazz is a luxurious small car and is equipped with all luxurious features of a C-segment luxury sedan that leads new Honda Jazz price wise a high end model. However, Honda used the Honda City platform to build this car for reducing the new Honda Jazz price as the overall manufacturing cost would otherwise increase. The launch of new Honda Jazz is the entry of Honda in the small car market in India and it will compete other luxurious hatchbacks of this segment such as Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i20 and Chevrolet SRV.

 The new Honda Jazz is a premium hatchback car and is equipped with a 1.2L, 1198cc, 4-cylinder power plant that produces 90PS power @ 6200 rpm and 110 Nm torque @ 4800 rpm. The powerful engine of this car offers great acceleration and enables it to cross the mark of 100kmph in just 11.2 seconds and achieve the top speed mark of 165kmph. The newer version of new Honda Jazz was launched with a 1.3L and a 1.5L engine options in UK while in India it is initially available only with a 1.2L engine. However, for Indian market, company announced that its 1.5L version will also be introduced.

Japanese Auto manufacturer Mitsubishi Motors has launched its popular mid segment sedan model Mitsubishi Lancerin Indian market, as a joint venture with leading Indian auto maker Hindustan Motors. Mitsubishi Lancer is a luxurious sedan model which is packed with an array of advanced features. Mitsubishi Lancer is a stylish car which is loaded with lots of styling features at both exteriors and interiors of the car. Mitsubishi Lancer is available in Indian market with two variants – one with petrol engine and another one is packed with diesel engine. All variants of Mitsubishi Lancer are available in the price range of Rs 7.33 lacs to Rs 8.11 lacs (as ex-showroom prices). Mitsubishi pajero sport

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is the new generation of Pajero launched in 2012. The rugged SUV competes with Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Sante Fe, Ford Endeavour and other humongous SUVs in India, although, Mitsubishi unlike Toyota is not that active in luring customers through the means of pricing, marketing and dealerships across the country. The new Pajero is basically built on Triton pick-up truck platform. Its competitor Toyota Fortuner is based on Hilux pickup platform. The SUV Pajero SFX assembles in India (Chennai) through completely knocked down units from Thailand. However, the Pajero Sport is brought as CBU. The pick-up truck derived body on ladder frame, high ground clearance, high riding double wishbone with coil springs and a stabilizer bar suspension set-up at front and three-link set-up with coil springs and stabilizer bar suspension at rear and the gap between the rear wheel arches and the tyres give it a raw SUV look.

Fiat Punto

Leading Italian auto manufacturer Fiat has launched its most awaited premium hatchback model Fiat Punto in the Indian market. Fiat Grande Punto has been launched in the Indian market as a joint venture between Italian passenger car manufacturer Fiat and Indian auto major Tata Motors. Fiat Grande Punto is consistently performing well internationally since its first debut at Frankfurt Motor Show in 2005 and has won many awards such as "Car of the Year 2008" award in Brazil. Even on safety point of view, the Fiat Punto has received a 5-Star rating in the stringent Euro NCAP safety tests. Now with the launch of this car in the Indian market, the company plans to strengthen its position in hatchback segment. Fiat Punto is the second vehicle that has been launched by FIAL (Fiat India Automobiles Ltd.). Fiat Punto has launched in the Indian market with three engine options - a 1.2L, 1172cc petrol engine, 1.4L, 1368cc, FIRE petrol engine and a 1.3L, 1248cc multijet turbo diesel engine.

Fiat Punto has an over all length of 3987mm that is 13mm smaller than 4 meters and this length fulfills the criteria to term it as a small car. This is beneficial for both the company as well as customers because if any car termed as a small car under the Government's rule, it gets a 16% concession on excise duty. But for a car, its length is not the only criteria to put it in the small car category, it should also, be powered by the engine with the capacity of a 1.2L or less. To get excise duty benefit Fiat India took the chassis of Grande Punto and fitted in the 1172cc petrol engine that is alsl powers its previous hatchback Fiat Palio. Also the 1.2L, 1172cc, 8-valve, FIRE petrol engine is surely cheaper than its 1.4L engine petrol counterpart. Its 1.2L FIRE petrol engine can produce 68PS power @ 6000rpm and 96Nm torque @ 2500rpm.
