Overview of 2011 New Maruti Swift

After the successful launch of A-Star, WagonR, Alto K10 and Ritz, Maruti Suzuki India has launched the 2011 model of its popular hatchback Swift in Indian Market. Prices start from 4.22 lakhs for the base model of petrol. Maruti's all-new lighter, longer and more spacious 2011 New Swift went on sale in the UK in September, 2010 promising better dynamics, increased performance and improved CO2 emissions and economy. It is powered by same petrol engine and diesel engine, which powered the 2010 Swift but have been fine-tuned for better fuel efficiency.

These are ex-showroom prices in New Delhi. The base variant of Swift petrol (LXi) is priced at Rs. 4.22 lakhs and base model of Swift diesel (LDi) is priced at Rs. 5.17 lakhs. It is a little bit overpriced in comparison to other cars in this segment. Also, the base model has no power windows, central locking system and music system.

The interiors of new 2011 Maruti Suzuki Swift are all-new and has no resemblance with the 2010 model. It features all-new instrument cluster, new design for central console, steering mounted audio controls, automatic climate control system and dash integrated music system with AUX, USB port, 4 speakers and 2 tweeters. The orange back-lit central console looks very cool and gives a feel of a premium hatchback. The only sore point is that the rear legroom and boot space is still very less, though Suzuki engineers have managed to increase the rear legroom by 20mm and foot space by 28mm, but it is less in comparison to other big hatchbacks like Hyundai i20 and Honda Jazz.

The diesel engine is turbo-charged 1248cc makes 74 bhp at 4000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. There will be 6 computers on board for engine management system, electronic power steering, automatic climate control, anti-lock braking system, central locking and airbag deployment.
